It’s official—this is one of the driest water years on record here in Southern Utah.
The Virgin River, a vital water source for our region, is running at extremely low levels. And with very little runoff from this past winter and spring, we’ll be relying almost entirely on water stored in our reservoirs to get us through the hot months ahead.
It’s a serious challenge—but it’s also a chance for our community to step up.
💧 Why This Matters to St. George
If you live in St. George, Washington, Hurricane, or anywhere across Southern Utah, you’ve likely seen the signs: dry landscapes, high temperatures, and growing demand on limited resources.
While long-term solutions like investing in new water infrastructure are underway, what we do right now—at home—matters more than ever. And one of the biggest ways we can make an impact is through how we use water outside.
Outdoor watering makes up more than half of a typical household’s water use, and many of us are using more than we actually need. As we prepare for a dry, hot summer, it’s time to make every drop count.
