Long before George’s Corner became what it is today, it was the home of the legendary Big Hand Café, operated by George Pace in the 1930s and ‘40s. Back then, it was more than just a café—it was the heart of town.
With the Greyhound bus making its only St. George stop out front, waitresses would shout “bus in!” as hungry travelers arrived, ready for a hot meal. The café became famous for its iconic neon sign—a big hand outlined in blinking lights, pointing toward the front door and promising, “Especially Good Food.”
Today, George’s Corner Restaurant carries on that proud tradition. We serve up hearty, delicious meals in a space that celebrates local history and the pioneers who made this desert their home. From our walls to our menu, everything here tells a story—one that started at the only stoplight in town and continues with every plate we serve.
